Foam on the Crest of Wave by Silke Stein started from the obsession I had over its cover. It is absolutely gorgeous and inviting as I stare at it. It had been over a year since I purchased the novel and had forgotten the premise that made me want to buy it.
It starts off following five different people in the situation with Abalone -- an almost fifteen year old girl, her aunt Gina, her father Jeremy, a same age peer Leif, and Dan a videographer of the ocean for a company about the coast they live by.
Its connections with the original Little Mermaid told by Hans Christian Anderson and the parallels Abbie has to her own life compelled me to learn all the secrets. All the way to the end. It is eloquently written about trauma and its impact.
